GRIN (redux) now on 24/25 November '18

Due to the rain event on the weekend of the 4/5 October we rescheduled the GRIN for 24/25 November

Well.......do we have a treat for you!

Working with the team from White Lightning Events we have organised Nymboida's first MTB multi day event, The GRIN (Great Race in Nymboida). It's a two day event, starting Saturday afternoon with racing and festivities at the Nymboida MTB Trails and then we'll have a get together at the   Nymboida Camping and Canoeing.  So make sure you book accommodation, you will need to supply your own meals on Saturday BUT the Nymboida RFS will be having a fund raising bacon and egg breakfast and lunch at the event on the 25th, so make sure you support the RFS, as they do awesome work in the local community.

The event will be 2 x 4hr MTB race, teams or solo spread across the afternoon of  Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November. Each day will be a different course to add interest and best of all......it's all awesome, hand built single track nirvana, no fire road at all!

You can register for the event via this link

Mhoarrrrr Single Track !

While White Lightning Events have been doing their thing on the prodigious administration involved in getting the event up and running Toni, Mark, Henry and I have been super busy building new trail.  We wanted to get this new track ready especially for the event and have been doing 3 or 4 trailworking bees every week for the last several weeks as well as months worth of work prior to that!

New bridge leading onto hand cut single track...

The new trail hasn't even been ridden by many riders yet, so I would suggest everyone ensure they do a test ride of the trail BEFORE the race event (get here early and head out !).  The trail is built using the 'stacked loop' system recommended by the IMBA , where the trails are more difficult the further you are from the car park of the bike park.

There are some really awesome features that might be tricky for beginner riders. It's not that they are particularly hard but if it's your first time out, they might catch you by surprise and add a "pucker" factor in the first lap that you don't need when racing.  For all but one obstacle on the new trail, there are no B lines, it's called Taipan for a reason, it can bite and will hurt if you don't respect it.

Rock garden approach, onto a "wall" berm, before a new bridge, then onto hand cut single track.. it's all happening !
